A diagnostic dyslexia assessment is the only way that dyslexia can be formally identified. The dyslexia test will be carried out by a specialist teacher/assessor who holds a current Assessing Practicing Certificate (APC). Our assessors are holders of the Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and relevant insurance.
The dyslexia assessment involves completing a series of short activities surrounding pictures, words and sounds, the dyslexia test usually takes around 2-3 hours.
This assessment will also provide a clearer picture of your cognitive profile strengths and areas for improvement. This will ensure that any support put in place is as effective as possible.
Following your dyslexia assessment, you will receive a personal assessment report, approximately 25 pages long, divided into the following sections:
- Summary of findings
- Background history
- Underlying Ability
- Attainments in English
- Cognitive Processing Skills
- Conclusions
- Practical Recommendations
- Technical Appendix
