For adults, a diagnostic dyspraxia assessment is the only way that Developmental co-ordination disorder (DCD) / dyspraxia can be formally identified. The dyspraxia assessment will be carried out by a specialist assessor who holds a current Assessing Practicing Certificate (APC) and an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and relevant insurance.
The dyspraxia test involves completing a series of short activities surrounding pictures, words and sounds, which usually take around 3 hours.
This assessment will also provide a clearer picture of your cognitive profile strengths and areas for improvement. This will ensure that any support put in place is as effective as possible.
Following your assessment, you will receive a personal assessment report, approximately 25 pages long, divided into the following sections:
- Summary of findings
- Background history
- Underlying Ability
- Cognitive Processing Skills
- Practical Recommendations
- Technical Appendix (Contains numerical scores, graph and glossary)
