This Literacy Review is appropriate for younger children when parents do not yet wish to undertake a full diagnostic assessment, or for children who have been previously assessed and an update on current attainments and the next ‘step forward’ is desired.
A Literacy Review is a straightforward literacy assessment. It is performed using basic testing and assessment (reading, writing and spelling skills) to ascertain a child’s current levels of performance and strengths and weaknesses in these areas. From the information gathered in the literacy review, specific learning targets can be identified. It will not be possible to make a diagnosis of dyslexia as it does not involve cognitive testing or assessment.
The Assessor will work with your child for between 45-60 minutes, carrying out the various tasks for the literacy test. An overview of your child’s strengths and weaknesses in these areas of literacy will be described; a detailed and structured personalised learning programme (PLP) will be developed based on the results, including specific teaching targets. The PLP will also give information on suggested methods and resources that may be used to achieve these. It is anticipated that the PLP will be delivered over a period of approximately six-eight weeks.
Literacy Assessment fee: £200 (all-inclusive). If we come to you, we may charge a little extra for travel, but we will discuss this with you during the booking process.
